The main north south road is Macleod Trail, which when it gets past the city limits becomes Highway 2 and can take you right to the Canada/USA border. The main east west road is Glenmore Trail on the north side of the quadrant and Stoney Trail on the south side. The C-Train (Calgary Light Rail Transit system)  south line runs adjacent to Macleod Trail, and it has 11 stations between downtown Calgary and the last stop at Somerset-Bridlewood. There are currently 12 new communities with the homes ranging from Condos, Townhomes, Starter and Estate.

Calgary Exhibition & Stampede Park is located on the east side of downtown Calgary which hosts The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth The Calgary Stampede for 10 days in July for over 100 years in a row. The National Hockey League Calgary Flames and the Calgary Hitmen play out of the Pengrowth Saddledome Arena on the north end of the grounds.

The Bow River flows through SE Calgary and provides Calgarians with fishing and boating recreation. Fisherman enjoy the Bow all year round, and the  river is visited by fisherman from all over the world to catch Brown & Rainbow Trout. Boaters usually use inflatable boats, Jon boats or canoes. Fish Creek Provincial Park is Canada’s largest urban park with Fish Creek flowing through the centre of the park. The park contains archaeological sites, a visitor centre and offers  environmental education programs. South Health Campus is Calgary's newest hospital and opened in fall of 2011. It sits on 44 acres at Deerfoot Trail and 196 Ave. S.E. and opened with 293 beds and 200,000 outpatient visits and will expand to 644 inpatient beds and 800,000 outpatient visits by 2018.

There are six golf courses in southwest Calgary, along with fourteen shopping centres —including Southcentre and Deerfoot Meadows. A massive retail shopping complex is currently under construction at Seton, which will have almost a million square feet of retail space when completed. It is being touted as the “downtown core for southeast Calgary.”

SE Calgary has four Recreation Centres and 10 arenas, and there are 31 off leash dog areas!
